Q:  How do I check Message Status and how do I receive replies to my message?
A:  Message Status will display the date and time that the Nextel recipient read your message. If the Nextel subscriber has responded to your message, it will also provide the reply. Message status is only available for messages sent from www.sprint.com. This feature is not available when you send a message using email.
There are three ways that you can receive a delivery status on a message sent using Text Messaging:
After you send a message from www.sprint.com, click "Check Status". The message status is displayed along with any replies received. If you send a group message, you can see the message delivery status for each individual recipient.
Use the claim number to check the status at a later time. Write down the claim number of the message. You can return later to check the message delivery status by entering the claim number and the recipient's Nextel phone number. For group messages, each recipient will have an individual claim number.
Have the message delivery status sent to an email address or directly to your Nextel phone. When initially creating the message, enter the preferred destination (your Nextel phone number or your email address) in the "Send Reply To" section. The message status will be delivered automatically to the address provided. Message delivery status can be checked for up to 5 days after you send a message.

Q:  Will the message be delivered if the recipient's wireless phone is turned off or out of coverage when I send the message?

Q:  What happens if my message can not be delivered?
A:  If after seven days your message was unable to be delivered, it will be deleted.

Q:  Do other carriers offer the same messaging features that Sprint offers with Text Messaging?
A:  No. Sprint's Text Messaging service offers some unique capabilities, such as delivery confirmation and a 500-character message size. Unfortunately, all carriers cannot support these features. So, while delivery confirmation is not available when sending inter-carrier messages, you may still request delivery confirmation for messages sent to Nextel subscribers. With regards to message size some wireless carriers limit the incoming message size. Text Messaging supports 500-characters per message (both incoming and outgoing). If you send a 500-character message to a subscriber with a more limited message size, the message will automatically be divided into separate messages and sent to the recipient.

Q:  Can subscribers of other wireless carriers reply to my text messages? Can they send text messages to my Nextel phone?
A:  Non-Nextel subscribers should check with their wireless carrier to determine inter-carrier messaging availability. If you currently subscribe to a qualified SMS or Text Messaging service plan, your Nextel phone can receive inter-carrier messages. Non-Nextel subscribers should check with their wireless carrier to determine support for inter-carrier messaging.

Q:  Can I use My Addresses to retrieve non-Nextel mobile phone numbers?
A:  Yes. You can store and retrieve non-Nextel mobile phone numbers from My Addresses in Text Messaging if your data plan includes MyNextel Address Book. This integration will reduce the number of keystrokes required to send messages to non-Nextel subscribers.
