Q:
How do I send a NextMailSM Message?
| A:
Each time you add an individual or a group recipient, they will be assigned a special NextMailSM number. You simply add their name and this number as a Private ID in your Nextel phonebook. When you want to send them a NextMailSM message simply select the associated name, press and hold the Direct Connect® button, speak, and then let go of the button when you are finished.Back To Top >>

Q:
How do I know if my NextMailSM message was sent and if it reached its destination?
| A:
Soon after you let go of the walkie talkie button, you will hear three short beeps. This is confirmation that your NextMailSM message has been sent.
If you check the "Send 'Recipient Replies' to my phone" box in your account's profile (under Options) the system will automatically generate and send a 'Message Received' message to your phone when the recipient opens the message.
If the email address is invalid, you will usually receive an 'Email Administrator' error message in your e-mail inbox. On rare occasions, messages sent to a valid address are not received by the intended recipient due to circumstances beyond the control of the NextMailSM service. These could include Internet slowdowns due to excessive traffic, the recipient's email server being temporarily off line, or the recipient's spam filter. Back To Top >>

Q:
How long will my NextMailSM messages be archived?
| A:
Up to 100 messages will be archived on the NextMailSM system. If you exceed your 100-message limit, NextMailSM will email you the oldest messages (First In, First Out) and then purge them from the NextMailSM system, leaving only the most recent 100 active messages on the server at any given time.Back To Top >>

Q:

Q:
How does a NextMailSM message look to the recipient?
| A:
The first time you assign a recipient, the recipient receives an introductory email explaining how the service works. When you send a NextMailSM message, the recipient will receive an email with a link (and an mp3 file attachment, if you elected to attach mp3s to this recipient). Clicking the link in the email will play the message (via audio streaming) and open a text reply box that will enable the recipient to send an immediate text reply to your phone.Back To Top >>
Q:
Can a recipient keep the recorded message/audio file?
| A:
Only if you send a message with an mp3 attachment. If you send a NextMailSM message with the embedded audio link and without an mp3 attachment the recipient will be able to listen to your recording as long as you do not delete it from your account (or as long as it has not been purged). Once you delete the original NextMailSM message the audio link will lead to a non-existing audio file.Back To Top >>
Q:
Can a recipient send multiple replies to a NextMailSM message?
| A:
Yes. As long as you keep the original NextMailSM message the recipient can reply via the NextMail email message. When clicking the 'CLICK HERE TO PLAY AND REPLY' link the Reply Box, with the previous reply, will appear. The recipient will then be able to edit the text, click the Reply button and send an additional reply.Back To Top >>

Q:
If I send a NextMailSM message to a group of recipients, will I be charged for Group Connect® use?
| A:
No. As you are essentially sending a message to a single Nextel® Nationwide Direct Connect number (the NextMailSM system then copies your message and distributes it to multiple recipients), you will incur Nextel® Nationwide Direct Connect charges, but not Group Connect® charges.Back To Top >>
Q:
Will I be charged for incoming NextMailSM Short Message Service (SMS) messages?
| A:
No. You will not be charged for SMS replies sent to you by your NextMailSM recipients.Back To Top >>
Q:
Is the information in a NextMailSM message or reply secure?
| A:
The voice content of the NextMailSM message is encrypted as it moves from the Nextel phone through the cellular network and into the NextMailSM server. Once your recipient elects to listen to the message, it travels in unencrypted form over the public Internet, and so should be considered no more or less secure than any other document sent through the Internet.Back To Top >>
Q:
Is the information in a NextMailSM message or reply anonymous?
| A:
No. Your recipient will know that your message came from you. And you will know that a reply came from a specific recipient.Back To Top >>
