A:
To unlock your phone, follow these easy steps:
  1. Press and hold the "End" key to turn the phone on.
  2. Press Unlock (right softkey).

Q:  I switched from a Nextel phone to a Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone. Why are the government fees and surcharges different, even though I kept my existing rate plan?
A:  Surcharges and government fees for Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone are those attributable to the Nationwide Sprint PCS Network, as opposed to the Nextel National Network. This is why you will see a difference in the taxes and surcharges on your bill.

Q:  I just purchased a Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone. How do I move my contacts from my Nextel phone to the hybrid phone?
A:
Your phone's SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card helps identify you to the network and can store important contact information. The Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone comes with a 128k SIM card. It is important to use this SIM card so you are able to maximize the full functionality of the hybrid phone.
You can copy your contacts from your current Nextel SIM card to the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone.
If you are using a compatible SIM card from a previous NEXTEL phone, you can copy your existing contacts from your SIM card to your Motorola ic502/ic402's Contacts list. You can also copy your phone's Contacts onto your SIM card from your phone. When you create a new entry in Contacts, that information is stored in your phone, not on your SIM card. If you decide to save it on your SIM card, you must use the SIM Manager to copy it there. The SIM Manager also allows you to copy from the SIM card to your phone.
Using Your SIM Manager
Copying Contacts Entries - SIM Card to Phone
To copy entries from a SIM card to your phone:
  1. Press OK > Contacts > SIM Manager > Copy to Contacts.
  2. Highlight the entries you want to copy and press O after each selection. A checkmark appears next to each selected entry.
  3. Select Copy (left softkey).
  4. Select OK (left softkey).
While Copying...
While attempting to copy information with your SIM Manager, you may encounter circumstances that prevent you from completing the task. Usually, your phone displays a message explaining what happened and screen prompts showing what to do next.
When you copy a Contacts entry from your phone to your SIM card, the entry may not copy completely. For example, Contact classifications, such Mobile, Home or Work, may be different on your SIM Card. In addition, some fields, such as IP address, cannot be copied.
Your Contacts entries may also display differently on a SIM Card. For example, the first and last name of an entry may be displayed in reverse order, or a very long name may be truncated.
Note: Selecting a Group selects all its members. To copy all the entries to your phone, after selecting Copy to Contacts, choose Select > Select All.

Q:  I switched to the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone. Why is my voicemail not set up on my new phone?
A:
The Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone uses the Sprint PCS network for voicemail. If you had a Nextel phone and are upgrading to the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone, you will need to set up a new voicemail box. Please note, your Nextel voice mailbox will be discontinued and all messages and settings will be deleted.
Unanswered phone calls are automatically transferred to your voicemail, even if your phone is in use or turned off. Therefore, you may want to set up your voicemail and personal greeting as soon as your phone is activated.
To set up your voicemail:
  1. From standby mode, press and hold 1.
  2. Follow the system prompts to:
    Create your passcode.
    Record your name announcement.
    Record your greeting.
Choose whether to activate One-Touch Message Access (a feature that lets you access messages simply by pressing and holding 1, bypassing the need for you to enter your passcode).
For more information on using Voicemail on the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone, see your phone's user guide.

Q:  Are there differences between my Nextel voicemail and voicemail for the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone?
A:
Yes, there are some differences, including:
Multiple Greetings: Nextel users can have and schedule multiple greetings. However, the Sprint PCS voicemail platform, used by the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone, has four greetings: personal, system, temporary and extended absence.
Voicemail Convergence: The Sprint PCS voicemail platform, used by the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone, does not yet allow users to merge their mobile and landline phone voicemails as on the Nextel voicemail platform.
Mailbox-to-mailbox: The Sprint PCS voicemail platform, used by the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone, allows users to compose, reply and forward voice messages to other customers on the CDMA voicemail platform.
Callback: After listening to a voicemail, the Sprint PCS voicemail platform, used by the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone, allows you to return the call. The Nextel voicemail platform does not have this functionality.
Pager Notification: The Nextel voicemail system allows you to page an external pager device. As an alternative to leaving a voice message on the Sprint PCS voicemail platform, used by the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone, callers can elect to send a numeric page to a wireless handset. The page will contain the phone number from which they are calling or they can choose to enter a different phone number. The phone number and text "Please call" will be sent to the wireless handset.
Fax: The Nextel voicemail platform allows you to receive faxes and send them to a printer. The Sprint PCS voicemail platform, used by the Sprint Nextel Hybrid Phone, does not yet support this functionality.
