Q:  How can I avoid clicking on "Get Link" when I am accessing a web page?
A:  To go directly to a link, hold down the trackwheel. You can also highlight the link and press the "Enter" key at the bottom right of the keypad.

Q:  How do I clean the screen?
A:  Clean the screen and device using only a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid, aerosol cleaners, or solvents on or near your device. Disconnect any cables from the computer and unplug any charging accessories from the electrical outlet before cleaning.

Q:  How do I turn my speakerphone on and off when I use my Direct Connect?
A:  For the Nextel BlackBerry 7100i (or BlackBerry 7520), during a phone call:
Press the speakerphone button on the top right of your device OR
Press the “OP” key on your device's keyboard. (On the BlackBerry 7520, press the “SYM” key.)
During a Direct Connect call, set the speakerphone default to:
On — From the Call Log on the BlackBerry 7100i (or the Phone icon on the BlackBerry 7520), click Options and click Push to Talk. Set Speakerphone field to On.
Off — From the Call Logon the BlackBerry 7100i (or the Phone icon on the BlackBerry 7520), click Options and click Push to Talk. Set the Silence DC calls field to Yes.

Q:  How can I make my display/screen brighter, especially when I am outside?
A:  For the BlackBerry 7100i, press the "On/Off" button located at the top left of your device below the antenna. This will light up your display for about 30 seconds.
For the BlackBerry 7520, press the "On/Off" key located at the bottom right of your keypad.

Q:  Why does the screen on my device turn off so quickly? Can I extend the time?
A:  When you do not use your device for a period of time, the screen turns off to conserve battery power. Roll the trackwheel or press any key to turn on the screen again.
To set how long the backlight will stay on after using your BlackBerry, in the device Options, click Screen/Keyboard. Set the Backlight Timeout field. Click the trackwheel. Click Save.

Q:  When I press the "Escape" button on my BlackBerry 7100i, my call does not terminate. How do I end a call?
A:  For the BlackBerry 7100i, the "Escape" button does not terminate a call. Unlike all earlier models, you can use other options on your BlackBerry device while you are on a call. The only way to terminate a call is to press the red "End" (phone hang up) key. Another method for ending a call is to click the trackwheel and select End Call.

Q:  Does the BlackBerry unit automatically update its time when changing time zones?
A:  No. To manually change the time on your BlackBerry, select Options, and Date and Time Zone.

Q:  How can I enable the smart keys on my BlackBerry device?
A:  For the BlackBerry 7520, there are 26 programmable (or Smart) keys on the BlackBerry 7520, one for each letter of the alphabet. To enable them, select the Phone icon and click the trackwheel. Highlight and select Options. Select General Options. Change the Dial from Home Screen options to No.
For the BlackBerry 7100i, there is one key (called the convenience key) that can be programmed on the BlackBerry 7100i. By default, it opens a list of browser bookmarks. To program the convenience key, from Options, select Screen/Keyboard and Set the Convenience Key Opens field.

Q:  Can I use my BlackBerry to send emails while traveling on an airplane?
A:  Yes. If you turn off the wireless function of your BlackBerry device, you can compose emails while traveling. You can then send your email messages once you land and can turn on the wireless function.

Q:  How do I hide an icon on my Home screen?
A:  To hide an icon on the Home screen, select the icon. Hold the Alt key at the bottom left of your device and click the trackwheel. Click Hide Application.

Q:  How do I move an icon on my Home screen?
A:  To move an icon on the Home screen, select the icon. Hold the Alt key at the bottom left of your device and click the trackwheel. Move the application to desired location and click the trackwheel.

Q:  How do I download ring tones?
A:  To download ring tones from your BlackBerry, view the online catalog at http://mobile.blackberry.com/mss/ringtone_catalog.
The BlackBerry 7100i supports polyphonic ring tones, while all other BlackBerry models support monophonic ring tones. You may want to check with the ring tones vendor, as some ring tones are only compatible with certain BlackBerry models.
