What does the word "Temp" mean when viewing the phone list? Why does this number differ from the number when view the phone details?
|
| A:

Wireless Local Number Portability enables mobile phone users to "port" their existing cell phone numbers between wireless carriers. When a user requests an existing number to be ported over to Nextel service from a different carrier, the process may take several hours to several days. The user will be assigned a "Temporary" Personal Telephone Number (PTN) until the port-in process of the "Requested" or "Permanent" PTN is complete. Temporary phone numbers will be marked as "TEMP" within the Address Book Admin application, but selecting the link will take the user to the Phone Details page where the Requested PTN will be listed with the other phone details.Back To Top >>
