Your First Bill

Your First Bill

You may notice that your first monthly bill is higher than expected. Don't be alarmed.
Your first bill is not a typical one because it may contain some of the following one-time charges related to setting up your account:
One-Time, Prorated Access Charges
These charges cover the prorated portion of the full month's cost of your rate plan, beginning from the day you activated your phone through the end of your first billing period¹. Additional recurring services, such as Enhanced Voicemail or Nextel Direct Connect® ordered separately will be prorated in a similar manner.
For example: If your phone was activated on the 20th of the month, and the first billing period ended on the 2nd of the month...you would see a charge for the 13 days of service remaining in your billing period. In this case, you would see a charge for 43% (13 days divided by one full month of 30 days = 43%) of the full monthly access charge.

One-Time, Refundable Service Deposit
If you have been asked to pay a one-time, refundable service deposit up front, you will receive a refund, shown as a credit to your account during the first quarter following the first year of service, provided there isn't an outstanding balance on the account. In the event there is an outstanding balance, this deposit will first be applied to this amount on your account.

Full Call Details Election Fee
As you review your first bill, keep in mind that it will not show the details of all the calls you made. Instead, only the calls that incur charges (such as cellular usage over your allotted minutes), long distance (if applicable), and directory assistance will appear.
If you want to see the details of all your calls, you can choose to receive your bill by email or view details at MyNextel on www.sprint.com (account registration is required²).
You may also elect to receive your cellular call detail on your printed invoice for $2.50 / subscriber / month. This fee will not exceed $10 / account / month for cellular calls (up to a maximum of 4 subscribers per account per month).
